Human Rights Management and Advocacy

  • Human Rights Management System Development: A Staff of SITE co-developed and designed a comprehensive Human Rights Management System for the Ministry of Women, Family Affairs, and Human Rights Development in Southwest State, Somalia. This system streamlined the reporting and management of human rights cases, marking a significant step toward accountability and efficient case handling.
  • Human Rights and Legislative Coordination Dialogues: A staff of SITE also played a key role in organizing State and regional dialogues between civil society organizations (CSOs) and government entities to enhance collaboration in human rights monitoring and legislative efforts.

Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment

  • UNSCR 1325 Local Action Plan: A Staff of SITE co-wrote and reviewed the Local Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security (UNSCR 1325), paving the way for greater equality and increased women's participation in peace processes.
  • Capacity Building for Women Leaders: Through targeted training initiatives, our staff empowered women leaders to take up impactful roles within executive, legislative, and judicial bodies across Somalia.
  • Women's Representation and Peace Processes: A Staff of SITE mapped and documented local efforts to operationalize the National Action Plan on UNSCR 1325, further strengthening women's representation in decision-making and peace processes.

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Response

  • GBV One-Stop Centre Development: A staff member of SITE established a one-stop centre for GBV survivors, complete with SOPs, referral mechanisms, and a secure database to provide holistic support and ensure data integrity.
  • Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) Data Collection and Training: Our team also has experience in developing systems for CRSV data collection and training stakeholders in early warning and response, shaping evidence-based policies and programs.

Peacebuilding and Local Governance

Community-Level Peacebuilding Initiatives: Our staff has extensive and has facilitated inclusive peacebuilding efforts, engaging traditional elders, religious leaders, and women’s networks to strengthen governance and social cohesion.

  • Concept Notes and Proposals: Authored a range of concept notes and proposals tailored to specific needs, from human rights advocacy to community capacity building.
